1. What initially inspired you to start writing, and how did you embark on your journey as an author?
My daughter Elisha was about 8 years old when I started telling her bedtime stories. My wife encouraged me to write them down after enjoying the stories herself.
2. Can you share a bit about your writing process? Do you have any specific rituals or routines that you follow when working on a new project?
The creation of Johnny came from bedtime storytelling, without any specific rituals or routines it just happened.
3. What themes or subjects do you find yourself drawn to the most in your writing, and why?
I enjoy fantasy and science fiction because they offer a great escape from the sometimes overwhelming chaos of real life.
4. Are there any particular authors or books that have had a significant influence on your writing style or creative approach?
No particular authors or books influenced my writing style. I write as the words come to me.
5. How do you balance your writing life with other commitments or responsibilities? Do you have any tips for aspiring writers on finding this balance?
My family’s mostly my wife encouragement played a vital role in helping me juggle writing alongside our other responsibilities.
6. Can you tell us about a particularly memorable moment or experience you’ve had as an author so far?
Picture this, I was telling my daughter a story before bed, but I started dozing off. Suddenly, she nudged me and said, “Papa, you’re falling asleep!” I got confused but kept going with another story. Then, out of nowhere, my wife yelled, “Hey, what about the other story? I want to know what happens!” Talk about a wild bedtime adventure…LOL
7. What do you hope readers take away from your work? Are there any messages or themes that you strive to convey through your writing?
I hope readers take away the message that everyone can embark on an adventure with a happy ending.
8. How do you approach character development and world-building in your stories? Are there any techniques or strategies that you find particularly effective?
It’s like I’m watching a movie in my head. The characters and places feel real.
9. What advice would you give to aspiring authors who are just starting on their own writing journeys?
I would advise aspiring authors not to give up. There were moments while I was writing “The Adventures of Johnny” when I felt like throwing in the towel. Having a supportive family also makes a big difference. Therefore, I would like to express my gratitude to my wife and daughters for all the encouragement and motivation they provided me.
10. Finally, can you share any details about upcoming projects or works-in-progress that your fans can look forward to?
I would like to continue working on Book 2 of “The Adventures of Johnny”. One of my goals, when I have more time, is to create an animated movie of “The Adventures of Johnny”.
