Today, 9 August, Celenic Earth Publications joins South Africa in celebrating National Women’s Day 2026.
Women’s Day commemorates the historic march of 9 August 1956, when more than 20,000 women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria in protest against apartheid pass laws. Their courage became an enduring symbol of the strength and determination of South African women.
At CEP, we also celebrate the women who continue to tell stories, create new worlds and share their voices through literature.
Women are authors, editors, publishers, illustrators, readers and characters whose experiences have helped shape storytelling across generations. From emerging indie authors working on their first manuscripts to established writers building remarkable fictional worlds, every new voice adds something valuable to literature.
Today is an opportunity to recognise those achievements while remembering the women whose courage helped shape South Africa’s history.
May we continue creating opportunities where women can tell their stories, pursue their ambitions and have their voices heard.
From Celenic Earth Publications, we wish the women of South Africa a proud, meaningful and inspiring Happy Women’s Day 2026.
