Saturdays are made for slowing down, catching up on hobbies, and perhaps disappearing into another world for a little while. You don’t necessarily need a 500-page novel to make that happen. Sometimes, a short story is exactly what the weekend needs.
Make Time for a Little Fiction
Short stories give readers the opportunity to experience complete characters, worlds, mysteries, horrors, romances, and adventures without committing several days to a book. You could enjoy one with your morning coffee, during a quiet afternoon, or before heading to bed.
They are also fantastic ways to discover authors you haven’t read before. An anthology containing several writers, for example, lets you sample different voices and genres before deciding whose longer works you want to explore.
This Saturday, consider giving yourself a little reading time. Put the phone down for a while, make your favourite drink, and find somewhere comfortable.
Whether you choose horror, fantasy, romance, historical fiction, or something completely unexpected, a short story can provide a surprisingly memorable journey.
Sometimes, you only need a few pages to escape the real world.
