The Indie Horror Showcase Press Release
Creepshow
The very first look at DreadXP’s video game adaptation of the classic horror anthology series Creepshow is here! Heralded as a love letter to all generations of horror fans, Creepshow will retain the iconic franchise’s anthology horror format, consisting of multiple self-contained horror stories that cross gameplay genres and tones.
Several indies popular in the horror development scene are contributing to Creepshow, including DarkStone Digital’s Brian Clarke (creator of The Mortuary Assistant), who is also the game’s creative director. Creepshow’s full list of contributors, its release date, and release platforms will be announced at a later date.
NEW GAME ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sylvio: Black Waters
Sylvio: Black Waters is an atmospheric first-person horror game that strands players on an enigmatic alien planet where the ghosts of the past hold the clues to its secrets. In this unfamiliar world that bears an uncanny similarity to Earth, you’ll discover a mysterious device that allows you to commune with spirits.
Black Waters is the third game in the original series that began with the critically acclaimed Sylvio in 2015 — a title nominated for Best Original Game by the 2015 TIGA Awards, listed as one of the best horror games by PC Gamer, and called a “triumph” by Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Fans of the series can expect a multi-layered narrative with the chills and thrills that they’ve come to love and fresh, physics-defying gameplay mechanics and clever puzzles.
HELLPUNK
Independent developer and repeat Dread X Collection collaborator Philisophic Games has teamed up with DreadXP again for the upcoming gore-soaked first-person brawler HELLPUNK.
In development for Windows PC, HELLPUNK kicks you into the depths of the human mind for a rage-fueled murder-punk nightmare set in a stylish futuristic setting. Pave the road to self-actualization with the blood of your foes and gleefully dance through the subconscious realm using creative, brutal melee combat.
Amanda the Adventurer 2
Last but not least, DreadXP surprise announced Amanda the Adventure 2! The original Amanda the Adventurer is a found footage-style horror title that hides a sinister story beneath the colorful façade of a children’s cartoon.
In this throwback to edutainment shows like Blue’s Clues and Dora the Explorer, you’ll decipher a mystery hidden within a series of videotapes that depict two animated characters — the sadistic plucky Amanda the Adventurer and her cowardly yet loyal sidekick, Wooly the Sheep — and use clever puzzle-solving to connect the dots between cartoon episodes and events that transpired in the world outside of the cartoon.
Amanda the Adventurer 2 will dive deeper into the twisted story of the titular Amanda and bring fans back into her super duper charming and not at all horrifying world. Look forward to a release date announcement in the future!
Need to sate your cravings for more adventure? Well…we have two words for you: Amanda Plushies. Pre-order one while you can!
Sucker for Love: Date to Die For
A standalone sequel to beloved Lovecraftian dating sim Sucker for Love: First Date now has a romantic release date! Launching Valentine’s Day 2024, Sucker for Love: Date to Die For features a “Shadow over Innsmouth” spin, where the new protagonist Stardust must escape from a rural town overrun with fanatical cultists while being pursued by new eldritch “beauties.”
An earnest love letter to Lovecraftian horror, ‘90s anime, and old-school dating sims, this sequel seeks to recreate the most memorable and nostalgic aspects of each faithfully. Prepare to find yourself trapped in the murmuring, pulsating, undulating heart of the woods, with your quest for survival slowly morphing into a blossoming, if not horrifying, love.
Halloween Game Updates
Now for some extra goodies for those trick-or-treat bags; new content is here for three previously released DreadXP titles in honor of Halloween:
My Friendly Neighborhood: Experience the free “Neighborhorde Mode” update for the all-ages survival horror puppet fest! Reload your weaponized typewriter and ready your wrench in order to survive an onslaught of puppets. You’ll terrorize the hordes as one of four playable characters, each with their own unique mechanics in four new combat arenas based on environments from the story campaign.
The Mortuary Assistant: The latest update for 2022’s viral supernatural horror sensation introduces a new body to embalm and hopefully exorcise. A sibling of Nosferatu, perhaps? And what new dynamic scares lay hidden in the shadows? You’ll find out.
Dread Delusion: The surreal open-world RPG’s “The Rise of the Skeletons” chapter is here! Specially designed for the wicked season, the update brings an entire new isle to explore, as well as a bevy of combat tweaks and other general improvements. And, of course, the skeletons; you may now command an entourage of calcium crusaders to rise from their crypts and do your bidding!
As a final treat, DreadXP’s catalog of horror titles is on sale for up to 33% off during the Steam Scream Fest, which concludes on November 2nd.
Be sure to keep your creepy eyeballs peeled for more news about these titles and future game announcements!
