Following last week’s announcement of the approaching release, we are delighted to finally welcome readers into two very different periods of history through Enlightening and Winter Dream.
Together, these stories explore people caught between the expectations of their societies and the convictions of their own hearts. Across war, injustice, deception and impossible choices, Angelia examines what happens when ordinary people decide that accepting the world as it is simply isn’t enough.

Two Stories, Two Eras, One Journey Through History
Pages of History brings together two complete historical fiction stories, each with its own setting, characters and struggles.
Enlightening takes readers into Civil War-era America and follows Blake Dynevor, the privileged son of a Mississippi landowner whose understanding of his family and himself is shattered following his father’s death.
A letter reveals that Blake’s biological mother was an enslaved woman whom his father later sold. Suddenly forced to confront the realities of the society in which he was raised, Blake begins questioning his identity, his beliefs and the institution of slavery itself.
His journey ultimately carries him from the Confederate South towards the Union Army, unfolding alongside historical events including the Battle of Fort Hindman and the Siege of Vicksburg.
Along the way, his fate becomes intertwined with Helen Fields, a Southern woman willing to risk her own safety to help enslaved people escape to freedom.
Discover Winter Dream
The second story, Winter Dream, takes readers away from the battlefields of America and into early nineteenth-century Wales.
Rachel Elswick lives with her family at an inn near Llandudno, where her life appears destined to follow a relatively peaceful course. Everything changes when she attracts the attention of the powerful Lord Claredon.
Rachel refuses to surrender her dignity in exchange for wealth and status, but that decision places her at the centre of a devastating deception involving her new husband, Alun Davinier.
What follows becomes a deeply personal fight for freedom, honour and the right to determine her own future.
Meanwhile, Hywel Belcher, the young man raised alongside the Elswick family, refuses to simply let Rachel disappear. His determination to find her and bring her home adds another layer of love, loyalty and courage to the story.

Although Enlightening and Winter Dream unfold in different countries and periods, the questions at their hearts remain remarkably familiar.
