A Weekend Made for Reading

Weekends have a wonderful way of giving us permission to slow down. After a week filled with work, responsibilities, deadlines and endless notifications, Saturday offers the perfect opportunity to escape into another world for a while.

And few escapes are quite as satisfying as a good book.

Perhaps there is a novel sitting on your shelf that you have been meaning to finish. Maybe your Kindle library contains a forgotten adventure waiting to be discovered. You could even spend the afternoon browsing books from independent authors and finding a story you might never encounter in a traditional bestseller list.

Your literary Saturday could include:

• Reading a few chapters with your morning coffee
• Visiting a local bookstore or library
• Discovering an independent author
• Revisiting an old favourite
• Writing a few pages of your own story

There doesn’t need to be a reading target or another challenge to complete. Sometimes the greatest pleasure comes from simply opening a book and seeing where it takes you.
