Actor Lance Reddick: Our tribute to a legendary human and entertainer

As many of you may have heard by now, actor Lance Reddick passed away on 17 March 2023. Hollywood and the gaming industry have since been paying homage to this legendary human. The cast members of John Wick have had words to share on social media and in interviews, while Destiny 2 players gathered at The Tower in memory of his contributions to the entertainment industry.

Since the actor has a special place in our hearts, we’re offering this article as a fitting tribute to actor Lance Reddick.

Who was actor Lance Reddick?

While many people worldwide know the actor well, there may be many of you wondering who he was. Lance Solomon Reddick was born on 7 June 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland. He’s mostly known as both an actor and musician, playing parts in film, game, and music industries. 

During his teens, Lance Reddick was mostly into music. He attended Peabody Preparatory Institute to study music while he also taught music composition and theory at Walden School. After moving to Boston, Massachusetts, he joined the Yale School of Drama before acquiring a Master of Fine Arts degree some time in 1994.

When it comes to his talent, actor Lance Reddick is known for many Hollywood and other studio roles in movies and films. If you mention his name to fans, the most common titles you’ll hear are John Wick and The Wire. In the former, he plays Charon throughout the franchise, including John Wick 4. For the latter, he played Cedric Daniels as a criminal defense attorney.

Besides these two top names, he played many other roles. One of the ones I enjoyed the most was Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil Netflix series that aired in 2022. He showed exceptional character, especially when he discovered his true nature.

Film isn’t the only industry that Lance Reddick shined in. Destiny 2 is probably the game he’s most well known for, which is why so many gamers are gathering at the Tower this weekend in tribute. He played Commander Zavala.

He was also in Quantum Break as Martin Hatch and both Horizon games as Sylens. In the game John Wick Hex, he returned as Charon. What few know is that he will be credited posthumously as playing Hellboy in the upcoming title Hellboy: Web of Wyrd.

How did Lance Reddick die?

According to initial medical reports, actor Lance Reddick passed away from natural causes on 17 March 2023. He was living in the home he owned in Los Angelos when he died at the age of 60. Nothing more has come to light about his passing at this time other than it was due to natural causes.
