You may think it’s pretty hilarious that a goofy pixel art game about throwing bones at bats wound up defining the beloved Survivors-like genre, leading the Nintendo Switch charts, and winning the BAFTA award for Best Game. But you know what’s even funnier than that? I’ll tell you what: recording the soundtrack with a 56-piece orchestra! (To be more precise: it was the Budapest Art Orchestra and recordings took place over various sessions!)
In celebration of the Save And Sound video game music event (on Steam now until the 14th of September), Vampire Survivors developer poncle has, for the first time, released a 10-minute clip showing a recording of their lushious orchestral soundtrack!
The Vampire Survivors soundtrack was penned by Daniele Zandara, with additional contributions from Filippo Vicarelli and William Davis. Originally recorded using simple digital software, the game’s extraordinary popularity allowed poncle to re-record it with a full-blown orchestra.
Here are the fantastic press release details.

In celebration of the Save And Sound video game music event (coming to Steam from 11th to 14th September), Vampire Survivors developer poncle has, for the first time, released a 10-minute clip showing a recording of their lushious orchestral soundtrack!
The Vampire Survivors soundtrack was penned by Daniele Zandara, with additional contributions from Filippo Vicarelli and William Davis. Originally recorded using simple digital software, the game’s extraordinary popularity allowed poncle to re-record it with a full-blown orchestra. The soundtrack was recorded over multiple sessions by the Budapest Art Orchestra, with the biggest session comprising of 56 musicians.
Quote from the developer:
“Vampire Survivors owes a lot to the soundtrack,’ said poncle founder and rumoured vampire Luca Galante. “I had the songs on repeat during the early stages of development, and I couldn’t have made the game without the contributions of our composers Danielle, Fillipo and Will. Well, I probably could have made it without them, but it would have been much worse. Anyway, it’s surreal seeing the songs being recorded by a whole proper orchestra, and we can’t thank our players enough for making this possible!”
