Silent Hill Retrospective Part 3: Silent Hill 3

Welcome to the fourth part of our Silent Hill Retrospective 2022, featuring Silent Hill 3.

Silent Hill 3 (2003)

Team Silent wasn’t done, yet. Another sequel appeared in 2003 titled Silent Hill 3, which directly followed the storyline in Silent Hill 1. However, players wouldn’t know it was linked until later in the game when it was revealed that the protagonist, Heather, was actually Harry’s daughter Cheryl. Of course, she was all grown up in the game.

As became the trend with the previous two games, you start with a scene where you die before you begin the actual story. A detective followed your trail, trying to explain to you who you really are and why you’re linked to Silent Hill. 

Otherworld takes centerstage but in a different way. As the story progresses, Heather realises that she’s responsible for the creatures in the town and what’s happening around her. During her investigation, she also discovers that Claudia is the reason behind her father’s death and calling Heather back to Silent Hill.

With cults and the summoning of the new god in Silent Hill 3, Heather ends up having to face herself before confronting a new version of Claudia. While many of the creatures don’t stand out as much as Pyramid Head, some of them share similarities with the monsters in past and future games.
