The Mortuary Assistant casts you as a recent graduate who gets more than they bargained for during their apprenticeship at a local mortuary. Strange noises, dark figures, and disappearing bodies are just the terrifying tip of this haunted iceberg, and you’ll need more than just your classroom knowledge to survive the night.
The Mortuary Assistant Press Release
DreadXP — an independent horror publisher and production company — and developer Darkstone Digital, have been dying to announce the August 2, 2022 release date for their upcoming first-person horror title, The Mortuary Assistant. The game puts you in the shoes of Rebecca Owens, a recent Mortuary Sciences grad who’s starting an apprenticeship at the spooky River Fields Mortuary. Long hours and no living beings around should make for an easy, if boring job. And those rumors about possession and demonic acts are just stories, right?
Late one night, you are called into work to handle some embalmings. Death doesn’t keep daytime hours. But there is something different about these bodies because there is something different about you. The phone rings with the Mortician on the other end. The rumors are true, and you can not leave.

The Mortuary Assistant features demonic banishments, creepy puzzles, detailed mortician tasks, and multiple endings. Each playthrough of The Mortuary Assistant is unique, featuring different demons, bodies, and scares custom-tailored to your playthrough. Players will need to balance their mortuary tasks and hunting for clues. You’ll need to brave the dark hallways and pay close attention to details if you wish to walk away with your soul intact. With a story told through multiple playthroughs, each run offers something unique.
The scares in The Mortuary Assistant aren’t limited to the supernatural, as the game features authentic tasks practiced by real-life morticians. These include making incisions on the dead, pumping their remaining blood out, retrieving them from the cold storage, and conducting embalmings. The first-person perspective puts you right into the medical action which only ramps up the tension as the bodies you’re working on start wandering.
