Welcome to our Hotel Business Simulator review for PC. Geekon is the developer with Midnight Games as the publisher, the same team that brought us Real Estate Simulator. The business simulation game is launching on Steam on 4 June 2024. Fortunately, I was able to play and review the game ahead of time!
My Hotel Business Simulator review runs the same format as usual. You’ll see more details on the campaign/story elements, how to play the game with info on the mechanics, and how good the audio-visual elements are. I’ll head it off with a final verdict and if I feel you should buy the game.
So, let’s head on into it!

Story Review | It’s Time to Run a Hotel
Let me begin my Hotel Business Simulator review with the story element: aka, the campaign mode. While there isn’t a plot per se, you still need to complete milestones and tasks to progress toward the endgame. It’s these elements that I cover here.
Starting Your Business
I was excited to play this sim game for my Hotel Business Simulator review. Having thoroughly enjoyed Real Estate Simulator, I had high expectations. When you begin, you spawn in front of your hotel in the parking area with nothing to go on until your character starts speaking. It’s clear you’re heading into a new big venture.
Maintaining Your Hotel
The first goal of the game is to open your first room, furnish it, and wait for your first customer. From there, you build the capital you need to open more rooms, receive more clients, and maintain your accommodation building. For my Hotel Business Simulator review, I feel there wasn’t much push towards a storyline in this regard or properly highlighted milestones. But, I’ll touch on that a bit more later.
Upgrading and Showing Off
At a later stage in the business sim game, you get to upgrade the appearance of your hotel. You add some furnishings and decorations inside the main lobby, which has a Lakeview Hotel of Silent Hill vibe.
Level Up Your Stars
So, is there an ultimate point to the game? While writing my Hotel Business Simulator review, the only main purpose I can think of is to level up your main hotel star to unlock all the furnishings and items, plus the rooms that are locked in the beginning. Once you reach the max level, the sky’s the limit. You’re the boss of your domain.
I’ll touch more on levelling up later in my Hotel Business Simulator review.
How Long to Play Hotel Business Simulator?
I’ve only played about 6 hours before I wrote my Hotel Business Simulator review. However, the game can go on forever if you want it to. I haven’t reached the endpoint of unlocking everything yet, but I didn’t need to in order to share my view. Even once you have everything unlocked, you can just keep playing for as long as you wish.
Final Thoughts on Hotel Business Simulator Review Story Elements
There isn’t much of an actual storyline, which is acceptable when it comes to a business simulator. You won’t fall in love with a cleaner or need to hunt demons that hunt your basement at night. The only factor you need to really focus on is increasing the room levels and main hotel level to unlock everything and become excessively rich.
Gameplay Review | Running Your Hotel Business
Next up in my Hotel Business Simulator review is the gameplay segment. Here I talk about what it’s like to actually play the game. This is where it really shines and which I really enjoyed once I got the ball rolling.
Learning How to Play Hotel Business Simulator
As you may have heard in my Hotel Business Simulator review video above, there isn’t much in terms of an in-game guide. Only a few real “missions” appear to show you how to start. However, there are no initial tips on how to do them. You need to work it out. Also, tooltips for hovering your mouse over icons would have been nice.
Working on the Computer
The computer is your friend. As with many business simulator games these days, it serves as your hub of operations. Here, you’ll see the rooms in your hotel and their statuses, buy items from the store, and hire employees. You’ll also see essential reviews of your rooms and the building, which I’ll touch more on later in my Hotel Business Simulator review.
Upgrading Room Levels
The room levels in the business sim game are different and not connected to your hotel level. As you add furnishings and decorations, the room levels rise. As you clock over a star level, it increases the room value in terms of how much customers will pay per night. This element is essential for your financials.
Accepting Deliveries
Once you buy items and pay for them, a truck will arrive and deliver the items. Unlike Parking Tycoon: Business Simulator, where you need to go collect the delivered items, they head straight into your inventory. From there, you can place them in the appropriate locations or fill up that liquor fridge.
The Game Menu Wheel
Speaking of which, I should probably cover the menu wheel in my Hotel Business Simulator review. That’s where you’ll find your inventory, trash bin, mop, and other useful tools. It’s an innovative way of doing things instead of the standard item bar we’ve become used to since Minecraft.
Rest or Faint
There’s an in-game clock on the top right of the screen that lets you know the time of day. When it hits 22:00, your character begins to yawn… excessively. I tested to see what would happen if I didn’t go to sleep. The screen becomes hazy, and it looks like I might faint. When this happens, you need to go to the creepy bed in the eerie basement. I really like this touch, except for the constant yawning.
Meet Clients and Keep Them Happy
Alright, let me touch on your customers in my review of Hotel Business Simulator. Once you unlock your first room, your first client will appear. That means you need to have everything ready for them. With each further room you open, that many tenants will hone in on your hotel.
What I really love about the business game is that it shows what the tenants expect from your room. There are icons that reveal if they want a bed, bath, or liquor in their room. However, you need to make sure the room has that before you book them into it. If you try to do it after, the tenant locks the room and you can’t get in.
Those Critical Reviews
This leads me to the part about the client reviews. After their stay, they will leave feedback on your hotel and the room they stayed in. For the best score, you need to make sure their room has everything they like. They will also share the pros and cons of the room.
Why is this important? Customers will give thumbs up based on how much they enjoyed their stay. This amounts to points. I achieved scores of between 3 and 5 per client in my first few hours. These points count towards the hotel level and increase your reputation, which unlocks new items and rooms.
That’s why these reviews are of the utmost importance.
Managing Your Finances
One of the most important tasks you’ll have as a hotel business manager is making sure your funds remain in check. It may look like you have loads of cash, but it runs out quickly when opening rooms and furnishing them. What’s more, your daily income is low at the start until you level up the rooms.
You’ll find me talking about this a lot in my Hotel Business Simulator review video. At first, it felt like I’d have to wait more than a week just to make back the money I spent opening and furnishing rooms. However, you should see this as a long-term investment. You’ll eventually make your money back and more on rooms.
Day to Day Tasks
If you think you can just sit back and watch the money flow in, you’re wrong. Before you get to hire employees, you’ll have to do all the grunt work yourself. That means washing the blankets, cleaning the rooms, sweeping the floors, and stocking the fridge. If another client arrives and enters a filthy room, they will be really unhappy and give a bad review.
Hiring Employees
When you reach hotel level 2, you unlock the ability to hire employees. That means less time spent cleaning up after customers. However, think carefully before you do so. Wait until your rooms bring in enough income. Keep in mind the daily cost of operating the hotel, such as refilling the bar fridges. If you think you can afford an employee, then it will make your daily tasks easier.
Real Time versus Game Time
Before I end this segment of my Hotel Business Simulator review, I want to touch on the real time vs game time crutch. The in-game time goes faster than real time, which means you don’t have a lot of daylight to deal with too many tasks. However, some items work on real time, such as the washing machine. The clock counts down 30 seconds in real time, but it takes a few hours of your in-game time. You need to keep this in mind and maybe wash overnight while you sleep.
How Easy is it to Play Hotel Business Simulator?
I would say Hotel Business Simulator is easy enough to play for most gamers. There aren’t any difficult elements. The only stress you’ll feel is when you have too many tasks to do at the same time. However, I find that more challenging in an exciting way than difficult. I don’t feel you will struggle to play it.
Final Thoughts on Hotel Business Simulator Review Gameplay Elements
The gameplay portion is the highlight of my Hotel Business Simulator review. For anything it lacks elsewhere, it makes up for it here. Sure, you’ll spend every day running around making sure everything is in place, but you’ll have fun doing so.
Audio-Visual Review | Enjoying The View
You’re in the final section of my Hotel Business Simulator review. As the heading suggests, I discuss the audio-visual elements here. What you see and hear becomes the crux of this discussion.
Enjoyable Graphics
The visuals aren’t too bad. I quite like them, to be honest. They may not be of Call of Duty standards, but it still looks good nonetheless. I like that the budget items look kind of disgusting, and you actually want to spend more money on quality ones. It adds an extra element to the game.
Basic Animations
As for the animations, you’ll have the basic ones for managing your hotel business. People walk, doors close, the mop/broom cleans and cars drive. There isn’t anything huge happening in this department, but I wouldn’t put much stock in it. You’ll be so busy running your business that you won’t care.
Go for a Fun Walk
One element I want to mention in my Hotel Business Simulator review is the outside area. It’s actually quite nice taking a walk around your building when you have the time. There are ample parking bays, and there’s a huge pond on one side. Hopefully you catch a break in your daily tasks to take a peek.
Soft Music, Standard Sounds
If you watched my Hotel Business Simulator review at the beginning, you’ll notice I mentioned the game doesn’t start with any sound. It made me wonder if my speakers weren’t working, but they were. It’s only once you enter the game that there’s a soft melody playing in the background to accompany you. Don’t be afraid to pump your own playlist while playing the game if you want something more exciting.
Voice Acting for your Character
I’m a big fan of voice acting. After a long month of editing client articles, all I want to do is enjoy the game and not read long walls of text. Ok, so the NPCs don’t actually talk, but your character has a lot to say while talking to himself for the narration. Super points for this!
Final Thoughts on Hotel Business Simulator Review Audio-Visual Elements
Hotel Business Simulator presents many enjoyable visual and audio elements. They won’t win awards for the best graphics and sound, but it doesn’t detract from what becomes an exciting game to play the more you proceed with it.
Hotel Business Simulator Review PC: Final Verdict
My Hotel Business Simulator review presents mostly positive thoughts. I love the gameplay most of all. What seems basic in the beginning becomes quite challenging and exciting later on. You’ll want to keep playing just to see how big your business becomes in the end, giving you a personal goal.
Is Hotel Business Simulator worth buying?
Yes, I feel Hotel Business Simulator is worth buying when it launched on 4 June 2024. I suspect more content to come in time, especially for the outside, and possibly a DLC. I recommend you getting your hands on it when it releases before new content arrives.
