We’ve had many rumors in the last hear about multiple Silent Hill games, specifically a remake of SH2. While we were hoping for the best while expecting the worst, it seems the media was right this time around. In a French interview, the director of the first SH movie, Christophe Gans, all but confirmed that there are new titles on the horizon as well as another movie by him.
It’s time to see what all the fuss is about. Should we really become excited by the possibility of multiple Silent Hill games? Or will the Konami Silent Hill team let us down? Here’s what we know so far.
Multiple Silent Hill games on the horizon, according to Gans
You may recall movie director Christophe Gans who worked on the first Silent Hill movie. He recently did a French interview that you can watch on Twitter or hear below. Fortunately, ResetEra did a translation of the most important parts, reflecting news about possible SH games in the future by the original Konami team.
It was in May earlier this year that we first reported rumours of a Silent Hill 2 remake and several other new games for the franchise. The news isn’t entirely new, as we suspected it for some time. So, why is this Christophe Gans interview so important? Well, it’s the fact that he states he’s working with the original Konami SH team in discussions about his second movie. It’s in these talks that he knows that multiple Silent Hill games are in the making.
The English translation
Thanks to the ResetEra post, we have an English translation of the most important parts of the interview where Gans revealed multiple Silent Hill games.
What this means for Silent Hill fans
The Christophe Gans interview about Silent Hill confirms a few things. First, we now know that he’s making a new SH movie, which we’ll touch on in a different article. He provides some details on what we can expect from that, and we’ll share that with you shortly.
Secondly, it looks like a Silent Hill 2: Remake is definitely on the cards. Gans says Konami was inspired by the success of recent Resident Evil remakes, which makes us wonder if we can also see the original SH1 and other titles remade with high definition.
Finally, he mentioned multiple Silent Hill games in the interview. Bloober Team is doing the SH2 remake, but there are other teams busy with other titles. We’ve heard that the name Silent Hill: The Short Message was registered in Korea, so that’s definitely another game we’re expecting.
With Hideo Kojima no longer in the picture, we wonder if they will ever bother trying to continue with Silent Hills. Sure, it might not have Norman Reedus, but we’re sure they can find someone else to replace him. It would be great if they can revive what we anticipated might be a masterpiece.
The legend of Silent Hill remained with us all this time
During the time that Silent Hill fell silent, so to speak, we didn’t forget about it. Author Shaun M Jooste had continue with his horror novels, with Silent Hill: Betrayal published in 2016.
In May this year, he confirmed that he’s continuing Silent Hill: Obversion and hoping to publish it in 2022. What great timing, as it’s coinciding with possibly seeing multiple Silent Hill games and a second movie.
We have some more exciting news coming regarding the rest of the Silent Hill book series by Shaun, so watch this space. It’s time for Silent Hill to rise from the silence and bring back the horrific glory we all loved.
